UNSUNG (focus #1 body copyrights)

PREMIERED IN 2ND DANCE FESTIVAL OF MONI LAZARTISTON (2012), THESSALONIKI, GREECE

Starting from the analysis of Drew Leder’s book The Absent Body, we wish to explore the body language as potential vehicle of its absence. The paradox of the not-present presence refers to situations in which bodies are both far from themselves and from our idea of ‘being a body’. Unsung is a project that deals with the concepts of lack, loss and absence, investigating paths of connection between our 'now' and its development. Body is strictly intended as real body, a human organism after the birth and before the death. Absence is intended with every possible meaning, from 'not present' to 'far', from 'desired' to 'unknown'. We believe that this subject is extremely important and urgent in these times, not only because of the technology and the virtuality that are surrounding us, but also because the future generations are going to face this issue more than us.

Unsung was made in collaboration with IOANNA ANGELOPOULOU, ELENI CHRYSOMALLI, VAYIA KAPOUSIDOU,

ELEONORA SIARAVA,  CONSTANTINOS PAPANIKOLAOU
